This year, the Croatian Restoration Institute joined our Mountain of Culture project with a fascinating lecture on the conservation and restoration research conducted in the building which today houses the Town Hall of Cres.
Toni Šaina, a conservator and restoration expert in the Croatian Restoration Institute’s Fresco and Mosaic Department, whose narrower field of expertise is frescoes, will present the results of conservation and restoration research in the central chamber of the Town Hall building that was conducted by the Croatian Restoration Institute in 2014. Besides an overview of the building’s construction and its later adaptations, emphasis will be placed on the discovery of the ceiling paintings in the central chamber that were made at the end of the 19th or early 20th century, when the building was used by the Società del Casino.
