The “Energy renovation of the Governor’s Palace in Rijeka” project implemented by the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka has a total value of €3,974,293.00, and is being fully (100%) financed by the European Union/NextGenerationEU. The project’s purpose is to ensure the adequate energy renovation of the building that will generate Eprim savings of 71.81% in comparison to the situation prior to renovation and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 83.57%, meaning the mitigation of climate change, i.e., decarbonisation, energy efficiency and the introduction of renewable energy sources with the aim of maximizing the use of existing cultural infrastructure, energy efficiency and sustainability in order to improve work conditions in the building and increase the number of visitors.
The project’s principal aim is to achieve 71.81% savings in annual primary energy consumption in the Governor’s Palace.
Project activities include (1) compilation of documentation, (2) energy renovation with energy efficiency measures: Thermal insulation of parts of the building’s envelope, replacement of inefficient heating and cooling systems by means of heat pumps, installation of solar panels for hot water conversion (HWC), installation of photovoltaic cells for electricity production, installation of efficient LED lighting, partial reconstruction of water lines, sewage and plumbing to reduce water consumption and increase safety in case of fire. Primary energy savings of 71.81%, (3) project management and administration and activities for (4) publicity and visibility.
Horizontal measures: installation of an elevator for disabled persons and developmentally impaired children.
The anticipated project results are:
1. Energy renovation of the Governor’s Palace building in Rijeka, with total floor-space of 6,359.14 m2
2. Savings of -676.21 MWh in annual primary energy consumption in the Governor’s Palace in Rijeka in comparison to the initial values
The first phase of the overall renovation of the Governor’s Palace in Rijeka will be implemented by means of this EU project, which was developed within the framework of the Integrated Revitalisation Project for the Governor’s Palace in Rijeka.
