The permanent display shows the contribution made by Primorje-Gorski Kotar County to Croatia’s defence (1991-1995). Direct wartime destruction bypassed the county, but it served as a logistical hub for accommodating the wounded and many refugees and displaced persons. Rijeka’s powerful economy was retooled for wartime production, while many of the county’s residents answered the call to defend the war-stricken areas of the country. The display presents the military and police units formed in the County’s territory and a memorial marker is dedicated to those among them who lost their lives in the war.
