The permanent display features an historical overview of shipping and naval architecture in the northern Adriatic with emphasis on the golden age of Kvarner sailing ships from the end of the 18th century to the formation of the immense Rijeka shipyards at the end of the 19th century.
The nautical equipment and navigational instruments used over the course of history are on exhibit. Walking through the display, you can learn something about the types of ships that sailed the Adriatic and the appearance of ship logs, and tour the portraits of captains and ship-owners of Rijeka and the wider Kvarner region in the first half of the 20th century.
The centrepiece of the display is a life-vest from the Titanic and the story of the sailor Josip Car, a crewman on the steamship Carpathia, which you simply must not miss.
