Author of the exhibition: Dr. Tea Perinčić, Museum Advisor
Designer: Vera Ružić, Cabinet 13
The exhibition will open on May 17 at 7 p.m., on the eve of International Museum Day.
It will take place in the exhibition space of the Museum in the Governor’s Palace and will remain open to visitors until September 30, 2024.
The exhibition features objects from Japan, dating from the 19th and 20th centuries, that are part of the Museum’s holdings. It also showcases stories about Japan from contemporary travelers, along with their photos and souvenirs. About forty people participated in the exhibition’s creation, including sailors, intending travelers, athletes, business people, students, and tourists. Through their experiences, visitors will have the opportunity to explore Japan’s unique culture and history.
The exhibition also provides a chance to view items from the Museum’s holdings that originate from Japan and were once part of the Collection of Exotics.
The exhibition is part of the Japan in Rijeka program, which is conducted by Peek&Poke.
