Man and the Sea – Fishing in Antiquity Through the Collection of the Archaeological Museum in Zadar

The exhibition “Man and the Sea – Fishing in Antiquity Through the Collection of the Archaeological Museum in Zadar” is a result of inter-museum cooperation between the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka and the Archaeological Museum in Zadar, and will present the valuable materials tied to fishing – a vital component of everyday life which has its origins in the Eastern Adriatic in prehistory. The numerous and frequent archaeological finds at still insufficiently examined seaside sites testify to this fact. The exhibition will highlight the fishing implements and techniques used during Antiquity, which have essentially not changed very much up to the modern day (a pole with a hook and line, harpoons and tridents, nets, weights and floats, traps, etc.).
The exhibition will run until 2 June 2019.
