Today the exhibition “Man and the Sea – Fishing in Antiquity Through the Collection of the Archaeological Museum in Zadar” by Dušanka Romanović opened in the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka. Fishing began to develop in the Eastern Adriatic already in prehistory, and it constituted a vital component of life in every community, which is demonstrated by numerous and frequent archaeological finds at still insufficiently examined seaside sites. The exhibition highlights the fishing implements and techniques used during Antiquity, which have essentially not changed very much up to the modern day (a pole with a hook and line, harpoons and tridents, nets, weights and floats, traps, etc.).
