\nCELEBRATING IRELAND\u2019S ARCHAEOLOGICAL HERITAGE<\/strong>

\nexhibition will remain open until 19 January 2024<\/p>\n

This photographic exhibition features approximately thirty of Ireland\u2019s most relevant archaeological monuments, landscapes and historical buildings that have been highlighted from the almost 12 thousand years of human habitation on the island.
\nIreland\u2019s archaeological heritage will attract visitors with the diversity of its unusual sites, such as the Newgrange tumulus, where visitors can genuinely experience the beliefs of ancient peoples during the winter solstice, or the picturesque castles or remote hermitages that now also serve as backdrops for Hollywood movies.
\nFurthermore, archaeologists consider these photographs extremely valuable conservation records for the future of the European and world heritage, as stated by one of the exhibition\u2019s creators, Michael MacDonagh.
\nThe attractiveness of this heritage certainly serves as invitation to visit the actual sites.
\nThe exhibition was made possible through cooperation with Ireland\u2019s National Monument Service, the Irish Embassy and the Archaeological Museum in Zagreb.<\/p>\n

The book is based on its author\u2019s doctoral research into the fates of so-called people\u2019s revolution museums in the territory of the former Yugoslavia after its collapse. This German scholar attempted to ascertain how and whether these specialised museums and exhibits managed to redefine themselves and adapt to the new political circumstances, as well as advances in museology.
\nThe book will be presented by Vjeran Pavlakovi\u0107, Ph.D., a professor at the University of Rijeka Faculty of Humanities and Social Science and Tea Perin\u010di\u0107, Ph.D., an advisor in the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka.<\/p>\n

MIRACLE ROOM<\/strong>
\nThe workshops for young creators are held in the Miracle Room at the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka and in the Museum\u2019s garden. Educational programmes are also being held at the remote collections.<\/p>\n

PROGRAMME <\/strong>
\nBIRTHDAY IN THE MUSEUM<\/strong>
\nEducational birthday workshops in the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka are aimed at children aged 4 to 12. The workshops are thematic, and the celebrants can choose from six available themes: \u2018Masquerade Ball,\u2019 \u2018The Trsat Dragon,\u2019 \u2018On-board Emergency,\u2019 \u2018Unusual Form,\u2019 \u2018Challenge Trail,\u2019 and \u2018Treasure Hunt.\u2019
\nThe programme will proceed in the Museum\u2019s premises. Must be arranged in advance.<\/p>\n

MIRACLE ROOM ON THE ROAD<\/strong>
\nMiracle Room on the Road is intended for children from distant schools, so that they can more easily participate in educational and creative programmes tied to the Museum\u2019s inventory and content, as well as segments of the local cultural and historical heritage.<\/p>\n

Only genuine aficionados likely know that 21 November is World Television Day. These formerly \u201csmall screens\u201d are today no longer so small, and the youngest spend more time with them than we\u2019d like. Even so, the Museum\u2019s Miracle Room will organize a fun, educational and creative workshop at which television will be \u201cwatched\u201d somewhat differently. Workshop participants will go back in time and take a stroll through television\u2019s history, and besides learning they will attempt to revive the museum\u2019s \u201cresidents\u201d with a short film that they will make on their own! So the paintings will walk, the statues dance… Participants will learn about making a film in the frame-by-frame technique, or stop-motion animation, and create a museum film together!<\/p>\n

\nThe exhibition \u201cFrom the Museum\u2019s Time Machine\u201d presents the Collection\u2019s first opening in 1981.<\/p>\n
