\nREMEMBER ME<\/strong>

Ahead of the Feast of the Assumption of Mary, an exhibition in our museum\u2019s Grand Atrium will present devotional objects held in the museum\u2019s Archaeology Department which were gathered during archaeological excavations around parish churches in Rijeka and Mo\u0161\u0107enice.
\nDevotional objects are those which encourage and spread piety and evoke religious mysteries. These include small medals, medallions, crosses, talismans and rosaries that were particularly popular in the 17th and 18th centuries. Among them the most numerous are the small medals bearing images of Jesus or Mary, various saints, sacred objects or places.
\nThe small medals from Rijeka and Trsat are particularly intriguing because it is believed that they were crafted in local workshops.<\/p>\n

\nBURIAL RITES AND CUSTOMS OF ANCIENT ROME<\/strong>

Over 400 exponents are on display in the exhibition: from miniscule jewellery forms to structural components of graves. The social and spiritual traits of the population in the Zadar area from the 1st to 4th centuries can be understood through the prism of grave goods.
\nThe exhibition will be accompanied by thematic lectures for the public and workshops for children.<\/p>\n

\nMRGARI \u2013 BA\u0160KA\u2019S STONE FLOWERS<\/strong>
\norganizers: Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka, Sinjali Association, Tourism Board of the Ba\u0161ka Municipality in cooperation with the Archaeological Museum in Zagreb

\nthe exhibition will remain open until 20 July 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mrgari are the loveliest example of the ancient wall construction technique of stacking stones without any kind of binding material. These multi-pen sheep folds with a layout resembling giant stone flowers dominate the karst landscape on the plateaus above the Ba\u0161ka Valley.
\nThe exhibition will be enhanced with new photographs of mrgari, as well as photographs from the Ljubimer mrgari restoration workshops.
\nAbout the artist<\/strong>
\nSanjin Ili\u0107 was born in Rijeka in 1967. He has family roots in Jurandvor, next to Ba\u0161ka. For roughly twenty years he has attempted to convey his fascination with the austere beauty of the Ba\u0161ka plateau through photographs.<\/p>\n

MIRACLE ROOM<\/strong>
\nThe workshops for young creators are held in the Miracle Room at the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka and in the Museum\u2019s garden. Educational programmes are also being held at the remote collections.<\/p>\n

PROGRAMME<\/strong>
\nBIRTHDAY IN THE MUSEUM<\/strong>
\nEducational birthday workshops in the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka are aimed at children aged 4 to 12. The workshops are thematic, and the celebrants can choose from six available themes: \u2018Masquerade Ball,\u2019 \u2018The Trsat Dragon,\u2019 \u2018On-board Emergency,\u2019 \u2018Unusual Form,\u2019 \u2018Challenge Trail,\u2019 and \u2018Treasure Hunt.\u2019
\nThe programme will proceed in the Museum\u2019s premises. Must be arranged in advance.<\/p>\n

MIRACLE ROOM ON THE ROAD<\/strong>
\nMiracle Room on the Road is intended for children from distant schools, so that they can more easily participate in educational and creative programmes tied to the Museum\u2019s inventory and content, as well as segments of the local cultural and historical heritage.<\/p>\n

\nThe exhibition \u201cFrom the Museum\u2019s Time Machine\u201d presents the Collection\u2019s first opening in 1981.<\/p>\n
