\nCHILDHOOD BEHIND THE IRON CURTAIN<\/strong>

\nthe exhibition will remain open until 15 May 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n

The exhibition \u201cChildhood Behind the Iron Curtain\u201d takes us back to the 1970s and 1980s and halts at the brink of our childhood world\u2019s collapse, a time of \u201cgreat longing\u201d for the material goods from the other side of the \u201ccurtain.\u201d This exhibition is about children, who grew up under the sway of Josip Broz Tito\u2019s cult of personality, but also under the influence of Western European and American heroes from comics, cartoons and movies.<\/p>\n

EXHIBITION <\/strong>
\nON FRANKOPAN PATHS CULTURE AND TOURISM ROUTE<\/strong>

\nthe exhibition is open on Wednesdays through Saturdays from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. until 20 March 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n

The exhibition \u201cOn Frankopan Paths Culture and Tourism Route\u201d brings together the county\u2019s culture, cuisine and tourism. Visitors can thus become familiar with the palaces, castles and all other locations encompassed by the Route. The exhibition features attractive creations by the renowned fashion designer Juraj Zigman inspired by the Frankopans and Zrinskis, interactive posters that enable access to the Route\u2019s audio guide and intriguing facts from the life and times of these two noble families. Visitors can also browse through the publications created to accompany the project: a children\u2019s picture book, a monograph and photo-monograph. The culinary corner highlights collaboration with local businesses that created new products, while souvenirs available at the Museum\u2019s admissions desk are presented in the publicity corner. The exhibition also features two video screens with multimedia content. One lets visitors take a 360\u00b0 panoramic stroll, while the other runs promotional shorts and presents the stops on this Culture and Tourism Route.<\/p>\n

MIRACLE ROOM<\/strong>
\nThe workshops for young creators are held in the Miracle Room at the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka and in the Museum\u2019s garden. Educational programmes are also being held at the remote collections.<\/p>\n

BIRTHDAY IN THE MUSEUM<\/strong>
\nEducational birthday workshops in the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka are aimed at children aged 4 to 12. The workshops are thematic, and the celebrants can choose from six available themes: \u2018Masquerade Ball,\u2019 \u2018The Trsat Dragon,\u2019 \u2018On-board Emergency,\u2019 \u2018Unusual Form,\u2019 \u2018Challenge Trail,\u2019 and \u2018Treasure Hunt.\u2019
\nThe programme will proceed in the Museum\u2019s premises. Must be arranged in advance.<\/p>\n

MIRACLE ROOM ON THE ROAD<\/strong>
\nMiracle Room on the Road is intended for children from distant schools, so that they can more easily participate in educational and creative programmes tied to the Museum\u2019s inventory and content, as well as segments of the local cultural and historical heritage.<\/p>\n

KASTAV REGIONAL MUSEUM COLLECTION<\/strong>

The Kastav Regional Museum Collection, a branch of the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka, is re-opening its doors to visitors after renovation. The history of Kastav and the wider environs (Kastav\u0161tina) is presented in the permanent display in three thematic units: The Origin of Kastav, Culture and Education in Kastav\u0161tina, and Life on the Border.
\nThe exhibition \u201cFrom the Museum\u2019s Time Machine\u201d is installed in the foyer, presenting the Collection\u2019s first opening in 1981.<\/p>\n

The On Frankopan Paths Culture and Tourism Route will observe International Women\u2019s Day with an instructive workshop on natural cosmetics, while highlighting the ties between the Frankopans and medicinal herbs. Each attendee will help prepare and make an individual natural cosmetic product which they can take with them afterward! This \u201cFrangipani spa\u201d in the Museum will have body lotions, pain-relieving salves, golden dry oil, yarrow tinctures and lip balms. Attendees can expect a good time, pleasant aromas and fascinating tales about how women cared for themselves in the Frankopan era.<\/p>\n
