The five proposals with the most votes became a part of the Civic Museum Collection, and they will be on display in the exhibition: the awards to the volunteers for the European Capital of Culture events, a report aired by the local television station Kanal Ri on the heroes of the pandemic, the Croatian Culture Hall’s online programme, an empty vaccination vial, and a first aid kit from the 1950s.
The Civic Museum Council (CMC) is a participatory body of the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka made up of non-governmental organizations. Its second convocation consists of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County Association of the Deaf and Hearing Impaired, the Stol Culture Association from Kraljevica, the Vida Association for Assistance to Addicts of Rijeka, the Ajkula Homeland War Special Police Association and the Kombinat Creative Collective. Since the beginning of its work in 2019, the Council has involved the community in the creation of this museum collection. By posting Public Calls, it encourages citizens to propose and select exponents for the newly-formed Civic Museum Collection. The Museum thus shares the responsibility for selecting the heritage worthy of preservation for the future with its community.

EXHIBITION
IDEA FLUXES
organizers: Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka, City of Rijeka
conceived by: Luka Staršek
opening: 10 January 2022
The exhibition may be viewed on the exhibition panels on Rijeka’s Korzo until 20 January 2022
As part of the TEMPUS international project being conducted in three pilot regions in Italy and Croatia, the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka, in cooperation with the City of Rijeka, has installed the exhibition Idea Fluxes on the Rijeka Korzo dedicated to the ideas on new uses for Rijeka’s maritime cultural heritage.
At the same location, the first exhibition in this series, “Fluxes” presented the historical aspect of the development of Rijeka’s port and its impact on its immediate environs across different eras, with the aim of inspiring the creation of new heritage-based products and services. The On Frankopan Paths Culture and Tourism Route encompasses 17 Frankopan castles and 3 sacral sites in the County’s territory, but the Frankopan heritage can also be found in the territory of other Croatian counties which are also working on the protection and promotion of the Frankopan legacy. The historical guide 100 Frankopan Castles is the first to contain a comprehensive list of Frankopan estates based on available data, and presents all (or almost all) castles and fortifications either raised or owned for longer or shorter periods by the Frankopans. Together with those in neighbouring countries, 142 sites have been registered. The list is accompanied by basic data on the Frankopans, their estates and the geographical scope that we believe may be useful for a tour (either imaginary or actual). Although intended for everyone, it is primarily a thematic guide for lovers of history, old castles and fortifications, the Frankopans, and, in some cases, extreme sports. To help users get their bearings, when creating the itineraries for this pilgrimage we used narrower historical-geographic units and locally recognizable regions which – using the attached maps – can be planned as outings for one or more days. Each locale is defined by its GPS coordinates, accompanied by a current photograph and, if possible, an illustration of its historical appearance, or a reconstruction, layout sketch or indication of its position on a map from the past.
This opens the way for a broader conceptualization of the tourism product and the joint promotion of the national heritage across the territory of several counties. Moreover, it fosters a sense of connection at the regional/national level and creates a platform for cooperation between associations and cultural stakeholders. The guide also includes those sites that may require greater effort to visit, making them ideal for those tourists who prefer exploration and adventure, which during the COVID-19 pandemic is the safest form of tourism – far from the most popular destinations and crowded tourist hubs. The guide is also available in an online edition adapted to computers/cell phones at the link http://frankopanski.gradovi.ppmhp.hr, which will facilitate easy navigation and tours of well-known and lesser known Frankopan heritage sites throughout Croatia.
The guide was created as a part of the observation of the 350th anniversary of the execution of Petar Zrinski and Fran Krsto Frankopan and the completion of the On Frankopan Paths Culture and Tourism Route, a project implemented by Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.
The historical guide 100 Frankopan Castles was produced thanks to funds from the Croatian Ministry of Culture and Media and Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.

MIRACLE ROOM
In compliance with the instructions issued by the National Civil Protection Administration pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka has launched the work of its Miracle Room.
