The Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka made the Decision on Temporary Organization of Operations of the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka in compliance with the prevailing measures pursuant to the declaration of the COVID-19 epidemic.
\nThe Museum has joined the campaign launched by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the Croatian Tourism Board, and obtained the \u201cSafe Stay in Croatia\u201d designation, which highlights it as a museum in which all health and safety protocols are enforced during the COVID-19 pandemic, making it a safe and desirable destination. The Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka and its remote locations, the Kastav Regional Museum Collection and the Lipa Remembers Memorial Centre, are thus safe places to visit.
\nThe Museum is also a proud partner with the Central State Demography and Youth Office of the Republic of Croatia in the IT programme e-Dje\u010dja kartica (children\u2019s e-card) and the mobile app Mudrica, which includes features for both parents and children when they visit the Museum. The app is free of charge, and it offers many benefits, such as free admission for children from a single family when the parents purchase tickets, a single admission pass for all three museum locations, free admission for parents whose children are participating in workshops and a 50% discount on children\u2019s publications.

\nOpen House Days in the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka are being organized as part of the conclusion of the Rijeka 2020 \u2013 European Capital of Culture programme, in which the Museum participated with its own projects.
\nDuring Open House Days, admission is free of charge, so visitors can tour the Museum\u2019s permanent display and the exhibitions \u201cD\u2019Annunzio\u2019s Martyr,\u201d \u201cViolins Beyond Borders\/Stradivari in Rijeka \u2013 Kresnik and Cremona\u201d as well as the info-point for the online exhibition \u201cBorders \u2013 Between Order and Chaos\u201d. All exhibitions were opened as part of the \u201cAge of Power\u201d programme.
\nWith free admission, visitors will also be able to inspect the permanent display of the Kastav Regional Museum Collection, and its exhibition \u201cKastav Photographic Lapidarium,\u201d and the permanent display of the Lipa Remembers Memorial Centre.
\nFor the duration of Open House Days, the museum\u2019s publications and souvenirs will be sold at special discount prices.

\nAs something of a signpost for the online exhibition \u201cBorders \u2013 Between Order and Chaos,\u201d an info-point was installed in the atrium of the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka which presents the ten primary themes covered by the exhibition. The concept of \u201cone theme \u2013 one exhibit\u201d served as a framework to present a complex exhibition about borders created as a part of the European Capital of Culture \u201cAge of Power\u201d programme.

\nAs part of the programme for Rijeka 2020 \u2013 European Capital of Culture, the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka presented an online exhibition: \u201cBorders: Between Order and Chaos.\u201d The exhibition deals with the problem of borders \u2013 real ones, the ones we impose upon ourselves or those imposed by our environment, way of life, traditions\u2026 Even though they still exist when we pay them no mind, we believe that the \u201cnew normal\u201d caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has made many people aware of certain borders we had never thought about before.
\nThe exhibition was funded by the City of Rijeka and Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.
\nThe Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka will mark the 350th anniversary of the execution of Fran Krsto Frankopan with an exhibition of photographs and postcards from the Museum\u2019s collection featuring scenes of the Frankopan castles in the territory of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and publication of a guide to their estates in Croatia, with the aim of consolidating presentation of the Frankopan architectural heritage and fostering awareness of the importance of the Frankopans to Croatian history and culture.

\nThe exhibition will remain open from April to June 2021
\nUsing materials from the Museum\u2019s inventory \u2013 maps, sketches, books, postcards, historical photographs \u2013 the exhibition will present the Frankopan towns and fortifications preserved in the territory of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. Visual materials are a significant source for studying the remains of the immovable cultural heritage, so that they not only have cultural\/historical and artistic value but also documentary importance. In the late 19th century, at a time of burgeoning national awareness and increasing resistance to centralist authority, the Frankopans acquired cult status in Croatian history, which was reflected in the popularity of numerous reproductions and postcards. The most numerous visual materials are postcards, which contributed to the creation of selective memory as they primarily represent motifs attractive to the wider public. Thus, the romantic motifs of medieval castles and crumbling fortifications, among which the most common contain scenes of Krk, Trsat, Kraljevica and Crikvenica, are present in many variants produced from the end of the 19th to the mid-20th century.

\nThe guide emerged within the framework of the project \u201cOn Frankopan Paths Culture and Tourism Route\u201d implemented by Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and co-financed by the EU\u2019s European Regional Development Fund.
\nThe Frankopans were a noble family who left an indelible mark on Croatian history from its emergence in 1118 until the execution of the last Frankopan, Fran Krsto, in 1671. The Frankopans originated on the island of Krk, whence they expanded their influence first to Modru\u0161 and Vinodol, and they had estates in almost all of Croatia and in numerous foreign countries (Italy, Austria, Bohemia, Poland, Sweden, Hungary, Slovenia, and Bosnia-Herzegovina). For a time they owned a third of today\u2019s Croatia, with holdings from the island of Krk to the renowned Knin. They acquired their estates by purchase, in return for military service to Venetian, Hungarian, Habsburg and other rulers and through marriages that created familial bonds with the most important Croatian and European noble dynasties.
\nThe guide contains a brief description of 100 sites in Croatia and notes 36 more outside of Croatia\u2019s borders. The publication was conceived as a thematic tourist guide for lovers of history and the old Frankopan towns and fortifications. This is the first time all of the Frankopan estates in Croatia are being presented together, which opens up possibilities for collaboration between local and regional tourism boards and the joint presentation of a unified cultural product. Even though most of the sites are situated in urban areas and\/or easily accessed, some of them are more difficult to approach and are meant for tourists with an adventurous spirit. Maps of the local areas and GPS coordinates are provided to help visitors get their bearings.

\nThe exhibition observes the 150th anniversary of the birth of Dr Franjo Kresnik (1869-1943), one of the greatest Cremonese lutherie experts of his time. Kresnik dedicated over 40 years to the study of bowed string instruments, particularly those made in the workshops of Antonio Stradivari and Giuseppe Guarneri del Ges\u00f9.
\nA film was shot to accompany the exhibition \u201cViolins Beyond Borders\/Stradivari in Rijeka \u2013 Kresnik and Cremona.\u201d Antonio Stradivari, Guiseppe Guarneri del Ges\u00f9 and Franjo Kresnik have left behind instruments which are admired to this day, while generations have enjoyed the music that they make. This is why we are calling on everyone to enjoy the music and this film that recalls our great fellow citizen.

\nThe exhibition opened on 12 September 2019 to mark the one-hundredth anniversary of D\u2019Annunzio\u2019s occupation of Rijeka. The exhibition was set up as part of the permanent display on the first floor of the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka. It portrays the sixteen months of the dictatorship established in Rijeka by Gabriele D\u2019Annunzio, the Italian poet, soldier and nationalist, through the prism of women \u2013 in both the figurative and literal senses, through a cross-section of specific historical events and testimony and by presenting several works by Italian futurists which reflect the spirit of this era.

\nAs part of the TEMPUS international project being conducted in three pilot regions in Italy and Croatia, the virtual exhibition Fluxes, dedicated to the ports of Rijeka, Ravenna and Solin, has been posted on the project’s web platform.
\nThe exhibition underscores the historical aspect of the development of these ports and \u2013 across different eras \u2013 their impact on their immediate surroundings, the cities of which they are a part.

\nIn compliance with the instructions issued by the National Civil Protection Administration pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka is resuming its operations in the Miracle Room.
\nUntil further notice, educational programmes will be held in the Marble Hall and, weather permitting, on the terrace of the eastern annex of the Governor\u2019s Palace, in front of the Miracle Room and in the garden.
\nEducational programmes tied to the Museum\u2019s remote branches, the Kastav Regional Museum Collection and the Lipa Remembers Memorial Centre will also be held in full compliance with the stipulated epidemiological measures.
