\nThe Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka is participating in the programme of the 12th VRISAK with an exhibition of museum publications which, in various ways geared to all generations, present the wealth of the Museum\u2019s collections, as well as the rich and fascinating history of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and the City of Rijeka as its hub.
\nAll of the Museum\u2019s publications will be available for purchase at a discount for the duration of the festival.

\nAs part of the Kliofest History Festival and History Day on 17 May, which is being observed in 20 cities throughout Croatia, admission to the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka and its branch collections, the Lipa Remembers Memorial Centre and the Kastav Regional Museum Collection, will be free of charge.
\nGuided tours of the permanent display<\/strong> will be organized:

\nThe exhibition \u201cLado\/Reliefs\/Vestiges\u201d is the result of three-years of cooperation between this sole professional folklore ensemble and the award-winning, talented artist Petra Slobodnjak, who found in Lado\u2019s performers a source of inspiration to create photographs that testify to traditional performing arts at the very highest artistic level.

\nMAN AND THE SEA \u2013 FISHING IN ANTIQUITY THROUGH THE COLLECTION OF THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM IN ZADAR<\/em>

\nthe exhibition will run until 2 June 2019
\nAs part of the cooperation between the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka and the Archaeological Museum in Zadar, the exhibition \u201cMan and the Sea \u2013 Fishing in Antiquity Through the Collection of the Archaeological Museum in Zadar\u201d has been presented to the public in Rijeka.
\nFishing began to develop in the Eastern Adriatic already in prehistory, and it constituted a vital component of life in every community, which is demonstrated by numerous and frequent archaeological finds at still insufficiently examined seaside sites.
\nThe exhibition \u201cMan and the Sea \u2013 Fishing in Antiquity Through the Collection of the Archaeological Museum in Zadar\u201d shows precisely this segment of life in Antiquity. Visitors will learn about the mythology and portrayals of deities and the products and economic activities tied to the sea (fish farms, salt production, and seafood as a delicacy).
\nThe materials presented in the exhibition are a part of the collection of the Archaeological Museum in Zadar and mostly come from the Roman-era harbour in Zaton, which operated from the 1st to 4th centuries, and then from the territory of ancient Nin (Aenona) and, to a lesser degree, from different sites in Zadar and its environs.

\nThrough its 386 pages and several hundred illustrations, drawings and engravings, Svein M\u00f8nnesland\u2019s book presents Istria, the Kvarner islands and the Croatian Littoral from the 15th century to the eve of the First World War, viewed through the eyes of foreigners \u2013 the most prominent European architects, artists, historians and politicians.
\nThe book is bilingual, Croatian-English, with many previously unknown illustrations.
\nSvein M\u00f8nnesland (1943) is an emeritus professor of Slavic linguistics at the University of Oslo and a member of the Norwegian Academy of Science. He is the author of several books on topics tied to the former Yugoslav territories, including, among others, the monograph Dalmatia Through Foreign Eyes.

\nOn the 75th anniversary of Lipa\u2019s wartime tragedy, the Lipa Remembers Memorial Centre focuses attention on the memorial heritage of Lipa over the past 75 years through an exhibition and publication entitled \u201cHow Lipa Remembers \u2013 75 Years of Commemorating the Tragedy\u201d. The exhibition will feature photographs and documents, and individual testimonies (narratives) by Lipa natives. The aim of the exhibition is to present the way in which Lipa has preserved its memorial heritage over the past 75 years and highlight Lipa as an exceptional positive example in the context of the national culture of commemorating the suffering of the Second World War.
