Didactic Info Point in the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka opens <\/strong><\/p>\n as part of the Claustra+ Project<\/strong><\/p>\n Taking advantage of the opportunities offered by European financing, the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka<\/strong> has opened the Claustra Didactic Info Point<\/strong>, which has \u2013 in part \u2013 been adapted to the blind and seeing impaired<\/strong>. The aim was to use a diversity of devices and content to bring this cultural heritage closer to the blind, seeing-impaired and deaf persons, while still keeping it interesting for other visitors. The Claustra Didactic Info Point was conceived and set up as a multi-functional space adapted to various types of interaction. In three linked rooms, interactive content such as computers and touch screen devices, films, exhibitions, exponents and replicas make it possible to become familiar with the Late Antique defensive system of Claustra Alpium Iuliarum and the lives of Roman soldiers. Thus, as part of the Claustra+ Project, the promotional\/educational documentary film Claustra was redesigned for the blind and deaf (audio-description and sub-titles), a 3-D model of Claustra was made so that blind visitors can use their sense of touch to feel how the Romans built their defensive system in this area, replicas were also fashioned so that gear and the everyday lives of Roman soldiers can be touched and tested, a computer adapted to the blind and seeing-impaired containing all of the materials and books about Claustra was installed, and there are also other guides and museum publications, as well as a voice recorder and digital magnifier.
\nThe tactile 3-D model of Claustra<\/strong> for the blind was made in cooperation with Sven Mari\u010di\u0107, Ph.D., with the technical support of Prof. Javorka Milkovi\u0107 from the Pe\u0107ine Primary School and assistance from Dean Stani\u0107, artist Marijana Vargi\u0107 and pedagogue Josipa Komljenovi\u0107. The redesign of the film Claustra<\/strong> for the blind and deaf was done in cooperation with the Centre for Audio-descriptive Activities and Promotion of Disabled Access to Cultural Content, while the computer, touch screen and other digital equipment<\/strong> were installed in cooperation with the company Applicon d.o.o.
