The Conscious Heritage project was launched in the 2010\/2011 school year, in cooperation with Milan Brozovi\u0107 Primary School from Kastav. Activities within the program are designed with the aim of making children aware of their cultural identity and developing sensitivity for their own cultural values and appreciation of diversity.
\nThe broad meaning of the name of the program enables several years of continuous processing of various heritage topics. In addition to raising awareness of local heritage, students learn about heritage institutions and their work, research methods, the way of preserving and presenting heritage items and museum items, and this in an alternative way, so that the student stops being a listener and becomes a real researcher who asks questions, discusses and concludes.
\nThe activities planned as part of the project, in addition to getting to know the local cultural heritage, encourage creativity and critical thinking, influence the formation of a positive attitude towards heritage institutions, deepen the understanding of the concept of quality and indicate the value of human work. All of the above results in better quality spending of free time for students.
\nThe program is carried out through workshops, lectures, discussions and student visits to the museum and it is conducted by curators, pedagogues, fine artists, teachers, professors, and students. The workshops envisaged by the project encourage positive values of today’s society, teamwork and cooperation, both among the users of the program as among the institutions involved in their implementation.<\/p>\n
