The exhibition “Adriatic Sails – Traditional Boats of the Adriatic” highlights the traditional boats used for near-coastal navigation on the Adriatic Sea. This third exhibition in the Atrium of the Governor’s Palace by exhibition creator Luciano Keber – the first was in 1994 and the second in 2002 – presents models of boats into which he interwove his mission, efforts and endless desire to preserve the memory of these former wooden beauties, their makers (meštri, kalafati), owners and all of those who took pride in the tradition of Adriatic small boat building in centuries past. He has been a lover of traditional boats since the days of his youth, and now he has enriched the premises of the Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka with models of such vessels, which he has been researching, building and presenting to the public for decades. He was born in Rijeka in 1960 and graduated from the Maritime School in Bakar. His vocation oriented him toward contemporary maritime professions, but also led him to foster and conserve the traditional maritime heritage by making models of boats, some of which are on display in this exhibition.
