At the end of February this year, a destructive earthquake hit the Turkish provinces of Kahramanmaraş, Adıyaman, Kilis, Osmaniye, Gaziantep, Malatya and Elaziğ, as well as the neighbouring provinces of Şanlıurfa, Adana, Diyabakır and Hatay. This is the northern territory of ancient Mesopotamia, with a diverse population and distinct customs.
The exhibition of photographs by Mirjana Lončar will present foods from the areas hit by the earthquake. The photographs allow viewers to travel through this region from breakfast, through lunch to dinner, presenting the wealth of Turkish meze, dough filled with meat and vegetables, tasty stews, enticing kebabs, spicy side-dishes, sweet desserts and intriguing beverages.
The exhibition is being organized as part of the Porto Etno Festival, and the customary programme at the opening will include a lecture and tour of the exhibition by its creator.
