I am not a fan of Japanese food, but I still managed to find something for myself. I was most surprised by ramen and wagyu steak. The only thing I didn't like was the habit of slurping. The louder one slurps, the more one appears to be praising the cook and the food. I couldn't get used to it. When submitting our marriage papers, we needed an interpreter for English. And so a female Japanese interpreter appeared and greeted us with "Good day, how are you?" in Croatian. We immediately thought they had sent someone who spoke Croatian, but it turned out that she spoke only a handful of Croatian words (including "a beer, please") because she’d lived in Darda in Croatia for a while. She had also visited Rijeka, which she said she really liked.
