The Kresnik Collection

The collection is dedicated to the life and work of Dr. Franjo Kresnik, a doctor from Sušak and famous maker and interpreter of violins (1896–1943). The collection was formed in 1952 from the donation of Justin Cuculić. The collection which has a memorial feel to it contains 207 items, mainly exhibited as part of the museum’s permanent display. The content of the collection is full of diverse exhibits, printed and handwritten material, photographs, furniture, violins and tools the associated accessories. The documents and exhibits of historic, artistic and scientific character testify to the superb creativity of Dr. Kresnik, as well as his role in the development of luteria and Croatian musical arts. Preventive measures of protection are being systematically implemented.
