BONES

Age: 6 – 8 grade Duration: 2 school hours Contact: Tamara 051/213 578 ili tamara[at]ppmhp.hr The workshop is educational and in it the children complete their knowledge of the human body and anatomy, primarily about the skeletal system, through games, investigation, pictures and explanations. They also get to know about the basic methods of analysis which are used in physical anthropology, for the determination of age, sex, height and pathological changes in the bones themselves.

  1. Part: completing a puzzle of a skeleton in the anatomical position. On the reverse of the puzzle is written the brief information about the skeletal system and the human anatomy.
  2. Part: familiarising children with the basic methods of analysis which are used in anthropological laboratories. Through photography in a PowerPoint presentation participants will be able to observe the main differences in the morphology of a skeleton depending on age, sex, height and some pathological variations of bones which will enable the comparison with the morphology of normal bones.
  3. Part: knowledge quiz – the pupils will split into two teams and answer simple questions
